NaNoWriMo 2021

It’s that time of year again~! To be honest, I have never won NaNoWriMo before. I’ve participated a few times, but I have long since come to accept that writing 50k in one month may be beyond my capabilities. Writing is just something that comes by me very slowly. Once upon a time I could knock out 5k in a single day, but those days are sadly no longer upon me.

Still, even with my struggle to win NaNo, I really love putting my best foot forward, and I’m hoping that this year will be the year that I win! I think I’ve got a great story idea and I’ve been trying to hammer out a rough outline. I started this story during last year’s NaNo on my honeymoon, but given that I was on my honeymoon, I fell behind and left the draft just gathering dust on my computer. I didn’t get very far, and I’m pretty confident that the story needs another 50k minimum, so I’m going to go for it and try to win this year.

This project is very dear to me, featuring my all-time favorite trope of friends to lovers. I’ve gone crazy over this trope long before I experienced it in my own love life, and nothing would make me happier than contributing to it myself.

Funnily enough, I also have a cover for this book already. I purchased it years ago on an impulse, and I even had a different book in mind for it, but when I came across it the other day, I realized that it actually belonged to this book. I still have that book half-completed in my drafts, and truthfully I was upset because it’s a book that deserves to be finished, but now that this book is consuming my brain, it feels serendipitous. It’s funny how things turn out.
